Tim's Enthusist Garage Episode 14:Classic Mini Cooper
The Classic Mini is a driver's car in the truest sense of the word.
The classic or "original" Mini has long been a favourite car of mine. Back when I had my first car dealership the whole website was designed around the car. I imported a 1970's Mini in Britax livery back in the early 2000's and I will never forget the overwhelming joy of seeing that car for the first time, in the metal, at port. That car had a single SU carb on a MG Metro 1275 and wore over the top 13" wheels. Performance was a bit underwhelming but the satisfaction of looking back after you left that car in a car park was immense. I loved it. Fast forward to the modern era and two lovely Minis have fallen into my Lap. The tan 1968 Mini was being a bit of a bugger the week we shot this episode and decided to not start. It had just been treated to a new stainless exhaust from MINIMANIA, given an oil service, new gaskets, new waterpump and hoses, it ran a treat... until it was needed. lol.
It is somewhat amusing really as I typically go on and on about how my british cars never go wrong. Well, there is always the chance that after a long winters slumber some part will fail to wake and it seems this time it was the well used and fairly dodgy fuel pump. As we speak the parts have arrived including new fuel lines, filter and pump and I will be sure to post a proper resurrection video in the coming weeks. Cheers!
